Key concepts students will learn:

  • To draw bushes like a pro (or at least not like a kindergartener), move your pencil in a round and round motion, like you're stirring a cauldron of artistic genius!

  • When drawing bushes, remember the 'pressure principle': Apply more pressure for shadows (like you're squishing a bug) and less pressure for highlights (like you're tickling a feather).

  • If your bushes look a bit flat, create a shadow block at the bottom and blend it with cotton, like you're giving your bush a cozy little blanket to sleep on!

Create a drawing of a bush using a pencil. Use either the round wrist motion technique or the up-and-down dragging technique as demonstrated in the video. Be sure to apply more pressure for darker areas and less pressure for lighter areas to create shading.
