In Spanish, the days of the week are masculine, so you must use the article 'el' before the day (el lunes, el martes, etc.).

To ask 'What day is today?' in Spanish, you would say '¿Qué día es hoy?' and to answer you would say 'Hoy es ...'.

The words for Saturday and Sunday (sábado and domingo) have plural forms, so you need to change the article and add an -s (los sábados y los domingos).
