Adding and Subtracting Fractions

When adding or subtracting fractions with the same denominator, the denominator stays the same and you add or subtract the numerators.

To add or subtract fractions with different denominators, you must first find a common denominator by using multiplication.

When you change the denominator of a fraction, you must also change the numerator by multiplying it by the same number.
