    When performing polynomial long division, the polynomial must be in standard form, and you must use zero as a placeholder for any missing terms in descending order of degree.

    To find each term of the quotient, divide the first term of the current dividend by the first term of the divisor, then multiply this result by the entire divisor.

    When subtracting the multiplied terms, remember to change the signs of all terms in the expression being subtracted, and any value left at the end is the remainder.
