Día de los Muertos is celebrated each year on November 1st and November 2nd and corresponds with the Catholic holidays All Saints Day and All Souls Day.
During Día de los Muertos, families create brightly decorated ofrendas or altars covered in orange marigolds with pictures and favorite things of loved ones who have died.
Día de los Muertos is not the same as Halloween, but the two holidays have become linked and provide an opportunity to find closure around loss and death.
