Ancient Egypt is divided into four periods: the pre-dynastic period, the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom, and the New Kingdom.

The Nile River's annual floods deposited silt, a nutrient-rich soil, onto the farmland, enabling the Egyptians to grow wheat, beans, lettuce, onions, and other vegetables.

To preserve bodies for the afterlife, Egyptians performed embalming and mummification, which involved removing organs, drying the body with spices, and wrapping it in linen cloths; pharaohs were buried in pyramids with all sorts of things that he might need in the afterlife like food, furniture, jewelry, treasure, anything useful he might want to have even his pets.
