Guided Notes
3 key concepts
- 1
To add or subtract fractions with different bottom numbers, you must first change them into fractions with a common denominator.
- 2
One way to find a common denominator is to multiply the two different bottom numbers; then, multiply each fraction by a 'whole fraction' made from the opposite denominator.
- 3
After changing to 'like' fractions, add or subtract the top numbers and keep the bottom number the same.
