Plot Events and Character Response

6th Grade30 minutesCCSS RL.6.3 6.RL.2.3

Learning Objective

I can describe how characters respond to plot events.

Key Concepts

Character actions are what drive a story forward, and understanding what characters do is key to your success as a reader.

Character actions and decisions have to drive the story; it’s about what characters choose to do, not just about the world around them, and actions speak louder than words.

Looking at character actions can help us see how characters change throughout a story; characters in stories can be complex, just like real people, and the way they behave might surprise you.
