Guided Notes
3 key concepts
- 1
A simple sentence contains one independent clause, which means it has a subject, a verb, and expresses a complete thought.
- 2
Compound sentences combine two or more independent clauses, often joined by a coordinating conjunction such as 'and', 'but', or 'so'.
- 3
Complex sentences include one independent clause and one or more dependent clauses; dependent clauses do not express a complete thought on their own.
