Learning Objective
I can differentiate between natural and synthetic resources based on their origin and formation.
- 1
Natural resources are things we get directly from nature, like wood, oil, sand, or water.
- 2
If a material still looks and feels a lot like it did in nature, it's a natural material, but if people have changed it into a new substance with new properties, it's a synthetic material.
- 3
Chemical changes create a new substance with new properties such as a different look, feel or texture, strength, or behavior, while physical changes may change how something looks or feels, but they don't create a new substance.
