Reading Passage

Plants: Nature's Food Factories

Plants are like tiny food factories! They use something called photosynthesis to make their own food. It's how they grow big and strong.

To make food, plants need three main things: sunlight, water, and air. Plants take in water through their roots, like drinking with a straw. They also take in air through tiny holes in their leaves. These holes are so small you can barely see them!

But the most important ingredient is sunlight. Plants have a special green stuff in their leaves called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll captures the energy from sunlight. It's like a solar panel for plants!

Inside the leaves, plants mix water, air, and sunlight. This makes a sugary food that plants use for energy. It's like they're baking a cake, but instead of an oven, they use sunlight! As plants make their food, they also release oxygen into the air. That's the air we breathe! So, plants not only feed themselves, but they also help us too!
