Subjects and Predicates
Learning Objective
I can write a complete sentence with a subject and a predicate.
Key Concepts
The subject of a sentence tells who or what the sentence is about, while the predicate tells what is happening in the sentence.
To help students focus on writing complete sentences, have them write a single sentence on a strip of paper and use the line drawing strategy to plan out their writing.
Create an anchor chart that visually reminds students of the parts of a sentence, including the subject, predicate, capital letter, and period.
