    People often root for ideas, laws, products, research, and politicians, and may create biased media to promote their "team's" side of the story, but it is important to recognize that bias is often hidden. Please include more highlights

    To detect bias, ask: Who is the author and what is their motivation? Do they benefit from promoting one idea? Do they ignore key information or perspectives that don't fit their own?

    To detect bias, ask: Are sources cited, and what role do they play? Does the article use insulting language or buzzwords, or examples that appeal to only one side of the story? If so, the article may be biased.
